Retrain your “thirst buds”

thirstyHow much water do you drink? And do you know when you are thirsty? Seems a ridiculous question but indeed it can be a problem for some. I know I am bad at this and with all the knowledge I have, I still needed to discipline myself. New mums need to replace fluids if breast feeding. We all need to replace fluids more in the hotter weather such as right now.

For some of us there can be a mysterious disappearance of our sense of thirst. And this gets worse as we age. The older we are the more we need to pay attention to our bodies. Sensitivity to thirst seems to wane as we age, we often don’t know we are thirsty, indeed eating when we are actually thirsty. Drink a glass of water even when you don’t feel like drinking water. Most of us have some level of dehydration and rehydrating our cells needs constant supply. Yes approximately 8 glasses of water a day.
